The mindset, skill, and lifestyle of discipline

Brian Kight - Apr 12, 2019 5:30:00 AM

Some value of discipline is in isolated moments of action. Most value of discipline is in extended impact over time. One difficult but disciplined conversation could change a relationship. 100 difficult but disciplined conversations will change a relationship.

Life goes up and down but the discipline you want is the kind that endures. It may fail you in a moment you need it because it isn’t strong enough yet, but let it be resilient. Get up where you fell down and return to the effort with a new understanding.

No matter how great your discipline is, it won’t be good enough sometimes. Doesn’t matter, get better. There’s no trick. There’s no hack. There’s no secret. Enduring discipline is more important than strict discipline. It’s a mindset. It’s a skill. It’s a lifestyle.

Embrace the chase. Do the work.
